When starting a business, it’s important to have an effective social media plan in order to gain and maintain relevancy with your customers. Social media is huge in today’s society, so much so that there are 2.3 billion active users and 40 percent of them socialize more on social than they do face-to-face. Based on these statistics alone, if you don’t have a successful plan, capturing the attention of consumers is near impossible. Here are some tips on how to create an effective social media plan in no time at all.

Choose Your Appropriate Platforms

First, choose your social media platforms. Facebook has 1.71 billion users, Instagram has 400 million users and Twitter has 320 million users. These are great places to start, but definitely do research on the platforms your target audience uses most frequently before deciding which to use.

Once you have set up your social channels, start posting about your product! Come up with fun and creative ways to engage your audience and get them talking. Follow some members of your target audience and like/comment/retweet their posts. This is a great way to develop relationships with your potential customers and help get the word out about your business.

Frequency and Engagement

Post every day to stay relevant. You’ll lose followers if your social media suddenly becomes a ghost town, even if it’s only for a couple weeks. Research has found that the optimal time to post on Facebook is between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the ultimate best time to post on Twitter is 5 p.m.

Redirect your followers to your website for more information about your business. Sure, they can find out a lot about your company through your social media posts, but you ultimately want them to find your website in order to eventually purchase your product/service.

Take advantage of the power of social media. Research new ideas to bring in new followers. Create contests to get your followers interacting with you. Figure out the perfect hashtags to get the right target audience’s attention. Pay attention to your audience’s likes and dislikes to create the most effective social media posts. When used correctly, social media can make your company take off.

Use Influencers

To continue gaining followers, reach out to bloggers with a strong following. See if they will promote your product on their page. Give them your product as a free gift, or pay them to advertise your business. Gaining a positive review from a popular blogger or vlogger can really bring in traffic to your social media or website.
